RARA Magazine
RARA is a biannual magazine, but it has been created for you to keep and return to year after year. In it you will not find sneaky sponsored content or fast fashion ads. You will not find fad diets or profiles of only slim white women.
You will find poignant opinion pieces and profiles on amazing activists. You will find a section on health that does not include weight loss tips or damaging rhetoric.
This magazine dares to be different in a world of publications that are designed to oppress readers into aligning with stereotypes and stigmas. We hope that RARA will empower through education, in both creative and critical spheres.

Mudhoney
Meet RARA's dirty little cousin....
Mudhoney is a shorter, sweeter, and much sexier read for your viewing pleasure.
In this limited-release zine, we have combined the artistic talents of three Meanjin-based creatives (with specialities in photography, illustration, and storytelling), to create a raw and unashamed view into the world of sex and sexuality.
We are unmistakably curious creatures who have a range of desires and expectations when it comes to sex. Mudhoney explores what this means for a diverse range of individuals.

MEET OUR EDITORS
Miranda Park (she/her)
Bridget Gibbs (she/they)
Miranda has been a volunteer with OWP since early 2020, is a PhD candidate, an avid watcher of period dramas (especially the ones with hot Scottish men in them) and a mum to approximately 30 indoor house plants.
Her research is on gender inequality within the Australian jazz and improvisation scene, which brings together her love of music and passion for gender justice.
Miranda’s favourite part of producing RARA and OWP’s other publications is being constantly inspired by the creativity, imagination and insightfulness of the contributors, learning from a diverse range of voices and perspectives, and being Co-Editor with the ridiculously talented Bridget.
Based in Meanjin/ Brisbane, Bridget likes to watch Kookaburras eat worms from her window and search for ways to combine the scientific and creative parts of her brain.
Since completing both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Environmental Management at the University of Queensland, Bridget has worked across NGOs and Government institutions, whilst performing various roles within OWP. Through their writing, designing, storytelling, and science communicating, Bridget is thrilled at any opportunity to combine her passions in the arts, the sciences, and the social justice spheres. Creating RARA with such innovative and brilliant peers, and being an outlet for an assortment of voices around the country brings her absolute joy.
Bridget would love to inspire meaningful hope and lasting change, and will continue to search for creative ways to have challenging conversations.
NIAMH REID (she/her)
Niamh has volunteered with OWP since late 2022 as a Coordinator of Publications. Based in Ngunnawal/Canberra, Niamh is an assistant for a climate change aid project focused on the Asia Pacific region. She completed a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Queensland with a heavy focus on international development research.
Previously, she worked with a domestic violence organisation to promote the safety of women and children. Niamh has always felt passionately about gender justice. Through her love of creativity and storytelling, she wants to provoke uncomfortable conversations and empower young people - especially women - through education.
