RARA is a biannual magazine, but it has been created to keep and return to year after year. In it you will not find sneaky sponsored content or fast fashion ads. You will not find fad diets or profiles of only slim white women. You will find poignant opinion pieces and profiles of amazing activists. You will find a section on health that does not include weight loss tips or damaging rhetoric. This magazine dares to be different in a world of publications that are designed to oppress readers into aligning with stereotypes and stigmas. We hope that RARA will empower through education in both creative and critical spheres.
In this edition:
Jane Churchill explores the history of equality in surfing, and how the fight continues;
Bridget Gibbs asks creative young people about their views on feminism;
Athena Bellas recommends 13 films and television series’ made by Indigenous creatives;
Comedian Francesca Rossi-Price talks about alienation and exclusion as a young, female comedian;
Sophia Leen uncovers the truth of multi-level marketing companies: a #GirlBoss dream or pyramid scheme?
We learn how to choose the right lube for you;
We make vegan, chocolate slice (the perfect snack for smashing the white, settler state);
Miranda Park talks us through art and tarot cards; and
We explore how to destroy the patriarchy in six steps, with Alyssa Loughman!
RARA is also available in digital format for $6.00
